Don't want to get too political, but I wanted to know how people here felt about the proposed tax hikes in the new budget. I don't know much about the details but am thinking about going to the next meeting to find out. It's frustrating to have our taxes raised, while at the same time cutting programs like public pre-k that have the potential to bring new, young families into the city. Seems like shooting ourselves in the foot. Don't know what else, if anything, can be cut. Seems like the exact same issues being played out on the national level are also happening on the local level.

Does anyone know when the next public meeting is about the budget? I'd definitely like to check it out.
